Residents across Stockport are being encouraged to take part in several community activities taking place on Wednesday, 21 October, aimed at promoting wellbeing, social connections and community engagement.

These initiatives provide opportunities for people living alone, older residents and anyone looking to build new friendships to get involved in local activities and meet others in a welcoming environment.

Wellbeing Wednesdays: A Morning Focused on Wellbeing

The first activity, “Wellbeing Wednesdays”, is scheduled to take place from 10 AM to 12 PM at Edgeley Park.

The session aims to encourage social interaction and provide a friendly environment where participants can meet other local residents, share experiences and enjoy spending time together.

The 90 Minute Club: Bringing People Together

In the afternoon, the “90 Minute Club” will welcome participants from 2 PM to 3:30 PM at Stockport County's stadium.

This gathering offers another opportunity for residents to connect, enjoy conversations and strengthen relationships within the local community.

Community activities like these can be particularly valuable for individuals who may have limited opportunities to socialise during the week.

Sign Language Choir at Walthew House

From 5:45 PM, Walthew House will also offer a sign language choir activity.

This initiative highlights an inclusive form of group expression, encouraging participation and communication among people with different experiences and communication needs.

Strengthening Community Connections

Social isolation remains an important challenge for many individuals, particularly those who have limited opportunities to meet others or participate in community life.

Regular social activities can help build confidence, encourage friendships and create a stronger sense of belonging.

Residents interested in attending any of these sessions are advised to contact the organisers directly to confirm the schedules, accessibility arrangements and any registration requirements.
